Spark to Movement
We founded the Biotech CEO Sisterhood to address a critical gap. Women biotech CEOs lead some of the industry's biggest transactions — Sharon Mates' $14.6B sale of Intracellular to Johnson & Johnson, Sarah Boyce's $12B acquisition deal of Avidity by Novartis, hundreds of millions in private capital raised by member-led companies. And yet women remain underrepresented at the industry's highest leadership levels.
What began as candid conversations among a small, trusted group has become the foundation for something much larger. The secret to success is already within the Sisterhood — we just need the infrastructure to turn that spark into a lasting movement.
With our 501(c)(3) status secured, we're launching the Spark to Movement campaign to raise $2M and fund the next five years of operations.
“It was like this match that lit this flame that led to this fire that was just burning inside of all of us. We just needed to connect and feel supported and feel safe.”
The Sisterhood is a force multiplier
Since our founding in 2022, the Biotech CEO Sisterhood has grown into a powerful network of over 300 women leaders.
Together, we have built something rare: a community that serves as a force multiplier, giving proven leaders real-time market intelligence, operational insights and candid counsel on how to build and scale companies along with the mentorship, sponsorship and friendship to help each other succeed.
We are building a future where the Biotech Sisterhood is no longer needed, where gender parity in the C-suite and on boards of directors is the norm, where female-led companies have equal access to funding, and where all women in the biopharma industry have an equal opportunity to thrive and lead.
